Next Samsung Touchwiz UI to feature Google Now style notifications?
The next Samsung Touchwiz UI could feature Google Now style notifications, if the latest leaked image is accurate.
Samsung is heavily rumoured to be preparing a Touchwiz UI redesign for its 2014 smartphone range, and the latest leaks suggest it could adopt a Google Now influenced home screen.
The pre-installed user interface on all of the Samsung Android smartphone could feature a Google Now style notifications hub according to a new image from @evleaks.
The image shows Google Now card-esque notifications for personal details like flight times, calendar events, exercise activity, local weather and location data.
It also seems the new home page will ingrate other app notifications like Fourquare, Starbucks and sports results.
The screenshots suggest Samsung will introduce a radically new tiled UI, baring similarities to the Samsung Magazine UX launched with the 2014 tablet range like the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4.
Google Now aside, there’s also a slight resemblance to the HTC BlinkFeed home screen launched with the HTC Sense 5.0 UI and the HTC One, but with a little more functionality.
Another image of the upcoming Touchwiz UI was released by @evleaks earlier this month.
Combined, the two images suggest Samsung is looking to move away from the cluttered, often cartoonish qualities of the Touchwiz UI. Samsung’s Android UI has often been criticised for its slow performance and ugliness, but it seems the South Korean manufacturer is doing something to rectify this.
From the looks of it, the next-gen Samsung Touchwiz UI will be a marked change from the current offering, similar to the way Apple changed its operating system with iOS 7.
The new Touchwiz UI will most likely make its first public appearance with the Samsung Galaxy S5 next month, at a special post-MWC 2014 event.
