Next-gen Withings Activité smartwatch is nearly here

Withings set itself apart from its wearable rivals last year by launching a smartwatch that actually looked like a wristwatch.

And now the French smart device company has revealed plans expand its lineup of Activité activity trackers.

The new device, detailed to specialist site Wareable, will become available to buy in November.

“It will be in the price range of the Withings Activité Pop with a premium aspect,” Cedric Hutchings, CEO of Withings, told the website at the Dublin Web Summit.

He added: “Taking feedback from our users we made it more premium, at a more affordable price.”

The Activité Pop, for reference, currently prices at £119.95, while the more premium Withings Activité costs £320.

According to the report, the name of the device is yet to be revealed, but it will be “made of steel”.

While the tracking aspects of the watch will be similar to previous iterations, the tracker dial on the watch face has been “substantially enlarged”. The hands have also been darkened.

This isn’t the first we’ve heard about a new Withings wearable. Back in September, Hutchings told TrustedReviews he was open to building a luxury smartwatch that would compete with the Apple Watch Edition.
