Next-gen Sonos speaker could feature gesture control

Sonos is one of the biggest players in multi-room audio systems, but its product release cycle is frustratingly lethargic.
Fortunately, it appears that a new Sonos speaker is in the works, according to leaked renders.
While digging around in a Sonos Android beta .apk file, Zatznotfunny.com discovered several renders of an entirely new Sonos device.
The speaker in question doesn’t come with scale references, so it’s tough to say where the device will be positioned.
For instance, it could be a revamped version of either the Play:3 or the Play:5.
Alternatively, it could be something entirely new – a Play:2/4/6, perhaps?
Sonos has retained its boxy form factor, although the device looks more curvaceous and sleek than previous models.
Most interestingly, it appears as though the new speaker will be controlled using a swipe or gesture touch-control, rather than the button control that appears on current-gen Sonos speakers.
The renders also reveal that the speaker can be placed either vertically – better for stereo pairing – or horizontally, just like the Sonos Play:3.

Whatever the case, it’s good news that Sonos is seemingly working on a new speaker, as we’ve been waiting an age for a brand new speaker entry from the firm.
