Watch: New Star Wars trailer teases epic Skywalker scene in The Last Jedi

A new trailer has dropped for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and it sees Jedi superstar Luke Skywalker returning to a very familiar place.

As the Star Wars Episode 8 release date edges ever closer, we’re beginning to get a fuller picture of what to expect from the upcoming film.

We’ve already been graced with a full-length trailer, so now Disney is just stoking the fires of hype until the premiere.

The latest fan-baiting teaser comes in the form of a trailer called “Awake”, which was posted to YouTube late last night with the caption: “Darkness rises…and light to meet it.”

Check it out:

So what’s noteworthy? Well, the thing that seems to have got most Star Wars fans worked up was Luke Skywalker’s return to the Millennium Falcon. Aside from the Death Star, the Falcon is probably the most famous spacecraft from the Star Wars universe, and was a home away from home for Skywalker in the original trilogy.

We also learn that secretive super-villain Snoke is not actually a giant, despite what his hologram in the first movie may have suggested.

The trailer also appears to suggest that Rey is threatening Luke, although it’s entirely possible that it’s just misleading editing – commonly done in trailers to avoid spoiling the plot.

In any case, we don’t have long to wait: Star Wars Episode 8 hits cinemas on December 15 – may the Force be with you.
