New Samsung Digital Cameras

Samsung has its sights set on the digital camera market with the new NV range.

The NV10 is for the more serious pocket photographer, but still remains pretty slim and light – 96.5 x 60 x 18.5mm (with lens closed) and 149g without the battery or memory card. Unlike the NV3, the NV10 has an extendable lens providing a 35mm equivalent focal length of 35 – 105mm.

Samsung has shoe horned a 10.1-megapixel CCD into the NV10 and again has enabled ISO speeds up to the heady heights of 1000. With such a huge amount of pixels squeezed into the sensor and such a high ISO limit, I’ll be very interested to see how the NV10 copes with CCD noise.

For the more adventurous armature, there’s a degree of manual control with the NV10, including a shutter priority setting all the way to 15 seconds. Both the NV10 and the NV3 also include Samsung’s ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction) system to help users get the best possible pictures under all environments. The NV10 also sports the same 2.5in 230,000 pixel LCD screen as the NV3.

The NV10 will also be available at the beginning of September with a retail price of £279.
