New report ‘confirms’ Samsung Galaxy S7 to feature USB Type-C

Recent speculation has suggested the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be the next flagship phone to feature USB Type-C connectivity. Now a report on Friday claims to confirm it.

The well-connected SamMobile blog says the Galaxy S7 will be the first Samsung phone to feature the port, which arrived on the new Nexus devices (pictured) last month.

The rapidly emerging I/O tech features a reversible cable, which can be plugged into a port either way.

It also offers much faster charging than the current USB 3.0 technology, although Samsung’s Fast Charging adapter has recently allowed the company to make great strides on that front.

The Galaxy S7 is expected to make an appearance early in 2016, with recent reports suggesting it’ll see a return to the Snapdragon processor range in some markets.

The new Snapdragon 820 is expected to appear in phones in the United States, while the UK will get a version powered by the firm’s own Exynos chipset.

Earlier this week, we learned Samsung may be planning to mimic the iPhone 6S’ 3D touch display thanks to the presence of Synaptics’ new ClearForce technology.

This summer we also heard rumours the company may be planning to include Iris-scanning tech, but it has been a little quiet on that front more recently.

Naturally, it will arrive with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board and is a prime candidate for a reveal at Mobile World Congress on February 21.
