New Nintendo NX leak may reveal price, specs and game resolutions

The Nintendo NX subreddit has an interesting thread right now, with a source claiming to have shared significant details about the forthcoming console.

The source, who claims to be an employee at a major retailer, passed the information on to forum moderators, who say they verified his identity.

So what was within this new info dump? Well the source says the console will be available from $299, with bundle prices at $399.

He also says marketing posters show the console will launch with an as-yet-unannounced Mario game, while there’ll also be at least 4 games available at launch.

Review: Nintendo NX leak suggests ‘dream line-up’

One poster featured the phrase “Interact with your game on the go” adding further weight to the suggestion this will be a home/portable hybrid console.

In terms of specs, the source says ‘4K streaming has been mentioned’ but that’s unlikely to be for gaming experiences.

According to the retail employee, marketing teams are describing gameplay at 1080p/60fps.

The Reddit post, which moderators say should still be approached with caution, also says the packaging features the term “NX” but it’s unclear whether that’s the final name or just a ‘placeholder.’

We’d also suggest that you take this information with a pinch of the white stuff, but it’s interesting that the moderators say they’ve been able to verify the source in question would be in a position to access this information.

“We have done our best to confirm this individual’s identity and we feel pretty confident about it,” the mods wrote.
