Accessory-maker Mophie has announced its battery and storage extending Space Pack cases are now available for the iPhone 6 range and iPad mini.
The Mophie Space Pack for iPhone 6 and iPad mini offers up to an extra 128GB of storage and promises to double the battery life. Meanwhile, a case for the iPhone 6 Plus promises to extend battery life by 50 per cent.
The cases work by snapping over the frame of the device and docking with the Lightning port. When plugged in, the iPhone will run off the Space Pack until it runs out. The device’s internal battery will then take over.
In terms of the additional storage, things are a little more complex as Apple isn’t exactly welcoming of externally stored files within its native apps. However, users can download the Mophie Space 2.0 app in order to access their files. The new app also enables file transfer between Mac and PC over the same Wi-Fi network.
The Space Packs’ still enable access to the iPhone’s buttons and switches and contain a micro USB port for charging and data transfer. The case itself is also geared towards protecting the device against damage.
Mophie’s bulky accessories are already available for the iPhone 5/5C/5S range, but this is the first time iPhone 6 and iPad mini users can jump on board.
Beyond the new Space Packs, Mophie has also announced a Spacestation, which is a standalone 128GB drive and battery booster connected via a Lightning cable.
The new devices are on sale from today and will ship next month.
