New MacBook Pro (2016): New details leaked, launch imminent?

New MacBook Pro models will be announced by Apple within the next three weeks, according to a new report.
Apple has plans to launch new MacBook Pro models this month, with a potential release scheduled for August. That’s according to Japanese technology site Macotakara, which has published a new report that leaks possible details about the upcoming reveal.
The report claims that Apple’s newly redesigned notebook will feature a USB-C port and a Thunderbolt 3 port. These sockets will replace older connections like USB-A, Thunderbolt 2, and MagSafe 2. It goes on to suggest that the firm will focus on 13- and 15-inch models, and admits that the launch may not take place at Apple’s upcoming WWDC 2016 event (June 13 to 17).

Of course, it’s impossible for us to verify the Macotakara report, as the site’s sources remain anonymous. However, we’ve heard a number of rumours in recent times that gel with these latest claims, lending credence to the theory that Apple is in fact planning an imminent MacBook Pro revamp.
Other rumours include the new MacBook Pro featuring an OLED display touch bar, a Touch ID fingerprint log-in system, and a slimmer chassis – possibly in line with last year’s 12-inch MacBook design overhaul.
There’s a chance that the new MacBook Pro models could be unveiled during the WWDC keynote on June 13 at 18:00 (BST) – TrustedReviews will be reporting on the event live as it happens.
