New MacBook Air reportedly coming to WWDC 2016

Apple will completely revamp its MacBook Air line at next year’s Worldwide Developers Conference, according to a new report.

The fundamental design of the current MacBook Air model is pretty much unchanged from the very first model released way back in 2008. It’s an iconic laptop alright, but it’s in need of freshening up.

Especially as Apple has released its own even slinkier laptop in the form of the New MacBook.

Taiwan’s Economic Daily News claims that Apple is planning to release a new MacBook Air family at its next WWDC event in June of 2016.

It seems the new MacBook Air will be slimmer than before, but will feature larger displays. The smaller model will now come with a 13-inch display (which has been a feature of the larger model up to now), while a larger MacBook Air will sport a 15-inch display.

This essentially mirrors the size options of the current MacBook Pro range. There’s a chance there’ll still be an 11-inch option as well, but the report claims that this hasn’t yet been established.

We would have thought that it’d bee a little odd continuing to have an 11-inch Air option in the range with the recent addition of that 12-inch MacBook.

In order to attain its slimmer build, the new MacBook Air will apparently feature fully redesigned internal components. This will be an all-new laptop.

As MacRumours points out, the source of this report has a slightly spotty track record when it comes to Apple rumours, so don’t these rumours as read.
