New Mac Mini coming February according to retailer

Apple’s Mac Mini line will be revamped this February, according to one Belgian retailer.

The Mac Mini line was last updated back in October 2012, which means that it’s well past due a bit of attention. That could well come over the next month, if reports are to be believed.

Belgian retailer Computerstore recently listed (it now seems to have been removed) a new version of the Mac Mini for release in February. Though the image used was of the current model, this appeared to be a simple placeholder when you consider the accompanying specs.

According to the (Google Translated) blurb, “The Mac mini is equipped with the latest Intel Core i7 processor from Haswell series.” It also makes mention of Intel’s integrated Iris graphics chip.

We’ve seen Intel’s Haswell chipsets appearing in the rest of the Mac range, but not the Mac Mini up to this point.

The listing also makes mention of the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard amongst its various connection options, though it only references a “high-speed Thunderbolt connection.” The latest Mac Pro and Macbook Pro with Retina use Thunderbolt 2.

Of course, retailer information isn’t always the most reliable of sources for hardware leaks. It is worth noting, however, that when one Mac Rumours forum user contacted the Belgian retailer for corroboration on this listing, they were told that the information “comes from Apple or reliable sources.”

Make of that what you will. All we know is that there have been three unibody Mac Minis released across three consecutive years since 2010, and 2013’s no-show broke that sequence. We’re definitely due another one.
