New iMac models with better display and CPU incoming

Apple is preparing to launch new iMac models with improved display and CPU components, according to a new analyst report.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo comments often on future Apple releases, and his supply chain contacts have ensured a fairly decent strike rate. His latest prediction is that Apple will unveil revised iMac models in the third quarter of 2015 with some considerable enhancements.

These new iMacs are expected to have “key selling points such as more powerful processors and much better display quality.”

One the screen front, Kuo believes that Apple will use an LED phosphor material called KSF, which will “notably boost color saturation.”

Such a move would make sense, particularly when it comes to the smaller 21-inch range. As MacRumours points out, while Apple has release several 27-inch Retina iMac revisions since October of last year, the 21-inch range hasn’t been updated in two years.

Could we finally see the 21-inch Retina model many have been holding out for? Recent rumours would suggest so.

On the CPU, front, it’s known that Apple has had to wait for Intel to make its Broadwell processors available. We’d expect to see these making their way into the refreshed iMac lineup this September.

Kuo also believes that as a result of these improvements, iMac sales could hit one million in this quarter.
