New Galaxy A8 smartphone revealed by official Samsung user manual

Samsung has teased the upcoming Galaxy A8 smartphone with the release of the handset’s official user manual.

We’ve been hearing about a new upper mid-range smartphone coming from Samsung for a while, but it seems that the Galaxy A8 is now as near to being official as it’s ever been.

On the Samsung website, you can now download the phone’s user manual in PDF format, giving us a glimpse of what to expect from the device – including specs and even design.

As far as the latter goes, it seems as though the rumours were true: Samsung has borrowed the Galaxy S8’s Infinity Display design for the new Galaxy A8. Images included in the PDF file show a slim-bezel device without a Home button, which is very reminiscent of both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8. However, the bezel on this device is a little thicker than both of those phones.

The handset also features dual front-facing cameras, a light sensor, a front-firing speaker, an LED indicator, a SIM card tray, and a multi-purpose USB-C jack on the bottom of the phone. There’s also a 3.5mm audio jack, which means Samsung is yet to follow Apple’s suit of abandoning the feature.

The PDF document also makes reference to a bigger version of the phone, which we’d already heard rumoured as the Galaxy A8+. Both the Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ will be equipped with Samsung’s new Bixby digital assistant.

The two phones are tipped to feature Samsung’s own Exynos 7885 chipset clocked at a nippy 2.2GHz,with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM included – depending on whether you buy the standard or ‘+’ model.

The Galaxy A8 is supposed to feature a 5.7-inch or 5.8-inch screen, while the Galaxy A8+ is tipped to feature a marginally larger 6.01-inch screen.

Samsung hasn’t made any official mention of prospective launch details for either of these phones, so take all leaks with a pinch of salt for now.
