New Flickr iPhone app launched with Instagram style filters

A new Flickr iPhone app has officially launched with the photo-themed application introducing a selection of Instagram style filters.

Available for download now, the new Flickr app allows users to upload images direct from their iPhone to their Flickr accounts, editing snaps prior to upload or altering them with a series of filters that are more than a little reminiscent of the Instagram offerings.

Not limited solely to direct to Flickr uploads, the new Flickr app is looking to fill a void left by recent Instagram updates, allowing users to upload their latest pictures to Twitter. Social services Tumblr and Facebook are also supported by the iPhone 5 compatible application.

“We know that some of your best photo moments happen on the fly, so we’ve made it easier to get the perfect shot when inspiration hits,” an official Flickr spokesperson said of the new Flickr app release. “Once you get the shot, there’s a built-in editor to quickly correct, crop, or enhance it with one of the new high res filters.”

Allowing users to create Flickr groups to view their friend’s images, the new application, available from the Apple App Store, provides the chance to discover new picture based content from the wider Flickr community thanks to the ‘Explore’ tab.

“At Flickr, photos are part of our DNA so we put your photos first,” the company spokesperson added. “We know that some of you love details, so we didn’t overlook them. You can always see where and how a photo was taken, which sets and groups it belongs to, and who is tagged.”
