New BoomSound speakers teased for HTC 10

HTC continues to tease features for its upcoming HTC 10 smartphone launch, with today’s cryptic tweet focusing on the handset’s speakers.

In a post on the official account on Tuesday, HTC wrote: “Hear comes the new boom. You’ll hear it. #powerof10.”

The tweet, which you can see below is accompanied by an image appearing to show a pair of different speaker grills.

In recent weeks it has been rumoured HTC will drop the BoomSound front-facing speakers, which have been popular on recent M-Series devices.

However, with today’s tweet it appears as though the firm may just be re-positioning or reintroducing a new iteration of the branded tech.

The HTC 10 will be unveiled to the world on 1pm BST on April 12, after the struggling Taiwanese giant skipped the recent MWC 2016 show in Barcelona.

The device is set to incorporate a Snapdragon 820 processor, a fingerprint sensor, a 12-megapixel UltraPixel camera and a large 3,000mAh battery pack.

HTC has also been tipped to include a QHD resolution screen and the current version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

A number of leaks have suggested the form factor will be much similar to the iPhone-a-like HTC One A9 handset rather than the legacy M-Series devices.

The pressure appears to be on HTC to really produce the goods this time following the poor performance of last year’s HTC M9 release.

With Samsung really pulling out the stops with their Galaxy S7 range, the onus is really on HTC to keep up. Join us on April 12 for full coverage of the launch.
