New Amazon Kindle Fire HD reportedly in the works with Full HD display

Amazon looks set to follow Google and give its 7-inch tablet offering a refresh, with a new Amazon Kindle Fire HD tipped in the works with a 1080p Full HD display in tow.

With Amazon said to be currently putting the finishing touched to a trio of new tablet offerings, the company’s 7-inch tablet looks set to be the first to be updated with leaked new Amazon Kindle Fire HD specs suggesting the device could make a jump from the current 1280 x 800 pixel offering to a new 1920 x 1200 display.

About more than just a screen, the latest Amazon Kindle Fire HD refresh leaks, which have hit the web courtesy of BGR, have hinted that the new Google Nexus 7 rival will be powered by a speedy 2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU.

On top of this, a jump to 2GB of RAM is reportedly on the cards alongside the addition of a forward-facing camera. According the unnamed sources, the new Amazon Kindle Fire HD will come in a trio of storage capacities with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB options all available.

It has been suggested that despite the recent Android 4.3 Jelly Bean release, the new Kindle Fire HD will head to retail with version 4.2.2 of Google’s mobile OS in tow.

With Google having last week unveiled its second-generation Google Nexus 7 tablet, it is expected Amazon will upgrade its tablet collection towards the end of the summer.
