Netgear releases IoT-ready Arlo smart security camera

Netgear has announced the launch of its Arlo smart security camera in the UK.
Available from £189.99, it’s available for purchase immediately, and comes with at least one HD camera equipped with night vision and motion sensors.
The Arlo system, which is battery-operated, cutting out the need for cables and power outlets, is also ‘weatherproof’ and inconspicuous, measuring just 21.6 x 16.5 x 5.7cm.
The networking company hails it as the “first 100 per cent wireless Wi-Fi security camera with … high definition video.”
It comes alongside 1GB of free cloud storage and a dedicated Arlo app that’s available on both iOS and Android.
Through the software you can receive real-time notifications, watch live-streamed and recorded videos, customise activity alerts and activate motion sensors on your smartphone or tablet.
Arlo will notify you of any activity around your property, and you can watch as many as four simultaneous camera streams on your computer, tablet or mobile phone.
According to Netgear, “The Arlo camera is designed to enable devices to communicate with one another and even act as triggers for other connected devices.”
