Netflix exposes your dodgy internet speed with this new website

Netflix has launched a brand new website that can measure the speed of your internet.
It’s not exactly a new idea, but Netflix’s Fast.com is still a valuable tool for anyone who wants to check their internet connection speed in real time. You can use the website on desktop and mobile devices too, so you can gauge how much better (or worse) your home speeds are compared to mobile 4G internet.
Netflix isn’t trying to compete against Speedtest.net – the current market leader for internet speed-checks – and even links out to the site. This is simply a ploy by Netflix to educate its customers on why their video streams might be lagging – and more importantly, how it’s probably not Netflix’s fault.
In a statement, Netflix’s David Fullagar said:
“We all want a faster, better internet, yet internet speeds vary greatly and can be affected by other users on your network or congestion with your internet service provider. When you’re experienced streaming issues, fast.com allows you to check the download speeds you’re getting from your internet service provider.”
Fullagar also recommends cross-referencing your Fast.com speed with your Speedtest.net results to get a better idea of the exact quality of your internet connection at any given time. You can access Fast.com in any country, free of charge – and you don’t need to be a Netflix member either.
