Netflix Binge Scale: The TV shows you devour (or savour) – revealed
Gone are the days of watching one episode of a TV show each week – Netflix knows you’re binging, and here’s how much.
Netflix has revealed which of its TV shows are most prone to binge-watching, and which programmes are “savoured”. The company has published a ‘Binge Scale’, charting top shows like Breaking Bad, House of Cards, and The Walking Dead based on how quickly viewers burn through seasons.
According to Netflix, users finish an entire season in just one week, on average. That’s based on the global viewing of more than 100 serialised TV series across over 190 countries. The study discovered that when members are “focused on finishing a series”, they watch just over two hours each day.

Here’s the Binge Scale:
Political dramas like The Good Wife, House of Cards, Homeland, and The West Wing were amongst the most “savoured” shows. But thrillers and horror – The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Dexter, and The Killing – were clearly “devoured” by blood-thirsty viewers.
“
The streaming giant says that, by contrast, series like Sense8 and The 100 “grab you, assault your senses, and…make it hard to pull away”.
Cindy Holland, Netflix VP of Original Content, said:
“As the Binge Scale shows, experiencing a series ranges from the emotional to the thought-provoking. The beauty of Netflix is the control to find a series to binge no matter your mood or occasion and the freedom to watch that series at your own pace – whether that’s to indulge in Bloodline or power through Orange is the New Black.”
Netflix launched its streaming service back in 2007, and now has over 81 million subscribers globally.
