Netflix and 4oD confirmed for early Xbox One appearance

Netflix, LOVEFiLM and 4oD are part of the 13 strong list of entertainment services Microsoft has today confirmed will make an early appearance on the upcoming Xbox One.

With the Xbox One set to offer a raft of both gaming and entertainment options, the newly revealed list of entertainment services bound for the PS4 rival has been confirmed just two weeks ahead of the November 22 Xbox One release date.

Although the likes of Netflix and 4oD are set to take an early bow on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 follow-on, there are still a selection of high-profile entertainment services yet to be confirmed for the console, including the hugely popular BBC iPlayer.

We set out to make Xbox One the all-in-one games and entertainment hub for your home. The one system that offers the best games next to the best entertainment experiences and apps,” Marc Whitten, Xbox Chief Product Officer said.

An official spokesperson for the company added: “Today, we’re excited to announce the very first wave of some of the world’s biggest names in entertainment coming to Xbox One in the 13 launch markets between 22nd November and spring 2014.”

As well as the much-loved likes of Netflix and LOVEFiLM, rival on-demand services blinkbox, NOW TVand Wuaki.tv are also on the Xbox One’s early hit list.

With Demand 5 join 4oD as the Xbox One’s catch-up services, Eurosport, TED and Crackle channels have all be confirmed. Rounding off the 13 strong list of Xbox One entertainment services, Machinima and MUZU TV will be joined by Twitch.

Whitten added: ““Along with offering a stellar app portfolio from around the world, Xbox One takes the next step by offering them in a way that is seamless and easy to use.”
