Negotiate your way out of danger in Fallout 4 with your Charisma skill

Bethesda is trying to get you out of trouble in Fallout 4 by providing insights into the Charisma skill in the latest S.P.E.C.I.A.L trailer.

Ahead of the 10 November Fallout 4 release date, Bethesda is teasing us with short videos that explore the different traits that will make your character, well, S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

And this week, you’re here to learn about Charisma, and how it can be used to get ahead in the Wasteland.

“Unlike the clean, wholesome America you may recall, the Wasteland will be a distrustful place, full of unsavoury characters and few morals,” explains the latest video. “Earning the trust of your fellow man is an often overlooked key to survival.”

You can prove your trustworthiness by exchanging items with your Wasteland comrades (or enemies), and the more Charisma you have, the more favourable your bartering will be.

You wouldn’t want a fork in the eye would you now?

Charisma can be used to negotiate your way out of tense situations, and even to make a new friend.

For some reason, Charisma will also protect you from feeling the addictive effects of the bar’s happy hour, but it won’t protect you from feeling the tipsy side of sober.

On the plus side, however, even animals can be charmed through your Charisma skill in Fallout 4.

“Taking the charismatic approach is more than just good manners” after all, reminds Bethesda.
