Naughty Dog moves to clarify The Last of Us sequel talk

The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog has moved to clarify rampant rumours suggesting a sequel to the hit PlayStation game is on the horizon.
TLOU creative director Neil Druckmann spoke up after the studio’s writer Josh Scherr flagrantly referred to ‘the first Last of Us’ during a recent livestream event.
In an interview with OPM (via GamesRadar), Druckmann admitted ideas were being tossed around for a potential Last of Us sequel before he and game director Bruce Straley were moved onto the Uncharted 4 project.
He said: “
“And just as we were getting close to settling or narrowing that list down, we were asked to work on Uncharted 4.”

Prior to Scherr’s slip, TLOU voice actor Nolan North claimed the sequel was definitely in the works.
“I can say that was kind of a surprise for us for him to say that,” Druckmann added.
“I was like ‘Oh he knows more than we know [about] what we’re doing next.’ We joked about it afterwards during shoots and stuff.”
The survival horror classic The Last of Us was widely regarded as one of the finest games of the PlayStation 3 era, with a remastered PS4 edition also proving popular.
