Panasonic has announced a partnership with MySpace in the first step in the relaunch of the service which was acquired by Justin Timberlake for $35 million last June.
And it was Timberlake himself who took to the stage at Panasonic’s press conference to announce the partnership which will see the MySpace TV app become available on certain Smart Viera TVs in 2012. Smart Viera is the new name for Panasonic’s connected TVs and as well as MySpace, Panasonic announced that exclusive apps from Flixster and Disney interactive books would be available this year.
MySpace TV will allow users to interact with each other while they are watching TV as well as sharing TV shows and music with friends and seeing which TV shows are trending at any given time.
When Justin Timberlake acquired the social network six months ago there were many raised eyebrows and people wondered where the platform would go. Timberlake said the launch of MySpace TV was only the first of a number of developments for MySpace in 2012.
