Motorola RAZR M details leak – qHD display and dual-core S4 CPU included

Details of a new Android smartphone from Motorola, the RAZR M, have leaked onto the web. This comes a week before the device was expected to be officially announced.

The Motorola RAZR M appears to be an upper-mid-range Android handset, with a 4.3-inch 960×540 display. Some way short of the 4.7-inch 720p displays found at the top of the Android pile, then.

Powering the Motorola RAZR M is a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm S4 CPU. Don’t let the dual-core bit fool you – this is a highly capable chip, which can also be found in he US version of the HTC One X.

Backing this CPU up is 1GB of RAM, while storage amounts to 8GB plus whatever you cram into the RAZR M’s microSD slot. The phone’s camera is pretty much what you’d expect of such a device – an 8-megapixel unit that can shoot 1080p video.

At just 8.36mm thick, the Motorola RAZR M is one skinny handset, and it weighs a modest 126 grams.

Strangely, the Motorola RAZR M will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This is peculiar given the fact that Motorola is owned by Google, so you might have expected Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to be featured out of the box.

Motorola will be holding an event with US operator Verizon on September 5, where the RAZR M is expected to be officially unveiled. That may not be all that’s on show at the event either, with rumours of a high-end Motorola RAZR HD also circulating.
