Motorola Moto E tipped as super-slim entry level smartphone

Information has leaked concerning the Motorola Moto E, a new entry level smartphone model for the formerly Google-owned manufacturer.

Motorola has had a good time of late in terms of creating a pair of smartly designed and popular smartphones. The Motorola Moto X and particularly the Motorola Moto G have been hits.

Now, according to Mexican website Xataka, they’re set to get a new baby brother. The Motorola Moto E will be the smallest and cheapest device in the range.

According to the seemingly leaked spec information, the Motorola Moto E will feature a 4.3-inch 720p display, which is significantly smaller than the 4.5-inch Moto G and the 4.7-inch Moto X.

It’ll run on a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, which appears to place the Moto E on a lower performance footing than its bigger brothers. That’s backed by 1GB of RAM and just 4GB of internal storage. Fortunately, the latter is said to be expandable.

Around back there’ll be a 5-megapixel camera, according to the report, while the whole thing will be powered by a 1,900mAh battery.

While the Motorola Moto E sounds every inch the budget smartphone so far, its super-slim body is a decidedly premium feature. It’s said to be just 6mm thick, which would make it even slimmer than last year’s super-skinny Huawei Ascend P6, and way thinner than the 7.6mm iPhone 5S.

Apparently, the Motorola Moto E is set to debut in Mexico over the coming weeks, with a price tag of between 2,999 and 3,199 pesos. That’s between £137 and £146, if we’re going for a direct conversion.
