Motorola confirms which devices will get Android 5.0 Lollipop update
Just hours after the Nexus 6 was announced with Android 5.0 Lollipop, Google’s manufacturing partner Motorola has announced plans to freshen up its existing devices.
Motorola has pledged to bring the Android Lollipop update to the Moto X (2013 and 2014), the Moto G (2013, 2014 and 4G LTE version) and the budget Moto E.
Stateside Moto users on the Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini will also get the update once it starts rolling out.
Motorola isn’t offering any specifics on when the handsets, which already run a version of Android KitKat with minimal moderation, will get the bump, but that’s to be expected at this stage.
The firm confirmed Nexus 6 pre-orders will open later this month, ahead of a release in November. By early next year, it’ll be available in 28 countries.
The high-spec device has a 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor and a 13-megapixel camera.
