Moto G 3 unboxed already

The Motorola Moto G 3 is dues to be announced tomorrow, but there’s already been an unboxing complete with a comprehensive spec reveal.

New smartphones invariably leak, but Motorola’s forthcoming handsets range has been leaked to an extraordinary degree.

We already knew (or were fairly certain) about the Moto G 3 and its specifications, but over the weekend emerged an unboxing of Motorola’s impressive-looking new mid-ranger.

A Brazilian retailer has accidentally posted images of the Moto G 3 being unboxed online. These images were swiftly pulled, but have been captured and reposted by leak-hungry sources (including PocketNow).

Besides seeing what the box will look like, as well as learning about the contents of the box (it’s the usual cables), the unboxing shows the phone with its standard screen protector applied. As is often the case, that screen protector contains a number of the phone’s specs.

We get confirmation, then, that the the Moto G 3 will be IPX7 certified, meaning it’ll be water resistant. We also get confirmation that there’ll be a 16GB storage option, and that it’ll have a 13-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. This particular model has dual-SIM support, though it may be a regional variant.

There’s also a snap of the rear of the box itself, which contains yet more of the phone’s specifications. We’re looking at a 1.4GHz quad-core processor and a 5-inch HD (likely 720p) display.

Interestingly, the box cover shows the phone with two additional rear covers – blue and green – and those appear to come packaged in with the phone. Is this a standard provision, or part of the Moto Maker online customisation process? It’s a rare unanswered question ahead of the Moto G 3’s July 28 launch.

Aside from that anomaly, the rest of the specs are pretty much what we had heard previously. However seeing it all printed out on official packaging adds a note of finality to the Moto G 3’s specs.
