Latest Moto Camera update bundles Google Lens – here’s how to install it
There’s an update making the rounds for Moto Camera, the default camera application that comes bundled on Motorola’s smartphones, that bundles a slew of neat new features, including the option start a YouTube Live session.
But let’s face it: YouTube Live integration isn’t something Joe Sixpack is going to find useful. What is, however, is Moto Camera’s new-found support for Google Lens, Big G’s visual search tool that uses optical analysis to surface contextual information.

Google Lens can also execute commands. You can, for example, use it to connect to a local Wi-Fi network. All you need to do is point the camera at the credentials (SSID and WPA) embedded in the router’s casing and it will do the rest for you.
Here’s a breakdown of all the new features the update contains:
- Combined front/rear camera settings
- Drag-to-focus with Exposure UI
- Google Lens
- Single finger up/down zoom
- YouTube Live
The upgrade is available to download from the Play Store for all of Motorola’s 2018 smartphones. That includes the Moto G6 and Moto Z3 Play. There’s no word on whether it will make its way to any of its older devices, like the Moto G5.
