AOpen and Biostar announce cards based on nVidia's 6600 series GPU, while XFX announces a Doom 3 bundle with its 6800GT.
More proof that nVidia’s 6600 series of graphics cards is shaping up to be a big success arrived today with announcements of products from two different vendors.
Aopen announced the Aeolus 6600-DV128 and the Aeolus 6600GT-DV128 based on the GeForce 6600 and GeForce 6600 GT respectively. The latter will come bundled with the game Spell Force and Arx Fatalis and the former with just Arx Fatalis. We’ve never heard of either game so how much of a draw this will be is open to debate.
Biostar is a name more familiar as a manufacturer of motherboards and small form factor iDEQ machines, but it has also announced cards based on the 6600 series.
Its cards will simply be called the Biostar GeForce 6600 and the Biostar GeForce 6600 GT. No details of game bundles were announced so presumably these cards will compete on price.
Meanwhile, XFX has announced that it will be bundling Doom 3 with its higher end 16-pipeline 6800 GT card, making it a good one stop shop for those looking to upgrade their card to play id’s latest graphical masterpiece.
