Millions hit by further HSBC online banking issues

HSBC customers suffered further online banking problems following almost 10 hours of disruption yesterday.

Millions were left unable to log in to their online accounts this morning as Britain’s biggest bank confirmed that its systems were down.

The exact cause of the problems remains unclear as HSBC says it is working to restore the service.

It also advised that its mobile app is still working.

Up to 17 million personal and business customers were unable to log in to their online accounts on Monday with HSBC ruling out a Distributed Denial of Service attack.

Customers remained unimpressed with the company’s attempts to reassure them and took to Twitter to vent their frustration.

Last year the bank faced criticism after an error stopped 275,000 bacs payments being made just before the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Affected customers should call the automated telephone banking service on 03457 404 404 while business customers should call 03457 60 60 60.
