Microsoft wants majority of Lumia phones to get Windows 10
Microsoft has gone into more detail on its plans to bring the Windows 10 operating system to Lumia devices running the current Windows Phone software.
Speaking to Lumia Conversations, Microsoft’s Chris Weber says the Windows 10 OS has been designed to run well on Lumia phones already out there in the market place.
Webber says the majority of the ‘today’s devices, like the Lumia 435, Lumia 735 and Lumia 930, currently running Windows Phone and Windows Phone 8.1 will get the Windows 10 OS.
However, he also warned that for some handsets the current hardware won’t allow support for every Windows 10 features, while suggesting the next generation of handsets could see the software really come into its own.
The Corporate Vice President of Sales for the Microsoft Mobile Devices group said: “
“Our goal is for the majority of the Lumia phones running Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 to join the Windows ecosystem along with an expected hundreds of millions of PCs, tablets and other devices running the next generation of Windows.”
