Microsoft has announced price changes for enterprise software and cloud services, which will see some prices rise as much as 22%, in an attempt to offset the effect of the falling pound.
Many tech companies are preparing to takes steps to reduce the impact of the weakened currency following the Brexit vote, with Microsoft announcing price rises across those two services.
In a blog post, the company has laid out the changes, which will take affect from January 1, 2017, and will see business software pricing rise by 13%.

The biggest change, however, will be to ‘most’ cloud services prices, which are set to increase by 22% as part of the new plans.
In the post, the company states: “Effective January 1, 2017, we will be increasing British pound pricing to harmonise prices for enterprise software and cloud services within the EU/EFTA region.
“We periodically assess the impact of local pricing of our products and services to ensure there is reasonable alignment across the region and this change is an outcome of this assessment.”
Microsoft’s update follows a similar move by Apple in September, which saw its hardware prices increase across the range of products.
It seems for now, consumer Microsoft software will remain unaffected, with the company’s price increases only relating to business software and cloud services at this point.
The company has also said customers with Enterprise Agreements will not be affected for now, writing that such customers will “have price protection on previously ordered enterprise software and cloud services, and will not experience a price change during the term of their agreement.”
