Microsoft sorry for OneDrive snafu, letting all users keep free 15GB
Following a huge backlash from customers, Microsoft has backtracked on its plans to cut free OneDrive storage from 15GB down to 5GB.
Last month, the firm had announced a controversial plan to do away with the unlimited tier and and cut back on other allowances.
Following a petition signed by 70,000 disappointed Microsoft customers, Redmond responded with a statement on Friday.
“We’ve heard clearly from our Windows and OneDrive fans about the frustration and disappointment we have caused,” the statement from a Microsoft spokesperson reads.
“We realize the announcement came across as blaming customers for using our product. For this, we are truly sorry and would like to apologize to the community.”

However, you shouldn’t expect to just keep your storage without doing anything about it. Microsoft is expecting users to opt-in in order to remain at the currently level.
Those who fail to do so will see their allowance pushed back to 5GB, so jump on that at your Microsoft account today.
