Microsoft shows off a different kind of Porsche hybrid

Microsoft has offered a sneak peak at a new Windows 2-in-1 PC designed by Porsche.

It’s been a busy week for Microsoft at this year’s Computex show in Taipei. Alongside updates on the future of Windows and HoloLens, there have been several Windows hardware announcements.

One of the more intriguing devices made only the briefest of appearances. Microsoft’s Nick Parker offered a sneak peek at a new 2-in-1 device from Porsche Design, hinting at a premium alternative to the Surface Book. Yes, it seems the storied German sports car maker has turned its hand to PC design.

Little is known about the new Porsche PC, but Parker did reveal that it was being made by a local Taiwanese hardware partner. It was also revealed that the 2-in-1 device would have a 13.3-inch display, and that it would ship with a pen.

The latter will obviously capitalise on the new Windows Ink features that will come with the Windows Anniversary Update some time this summer.

There aren’t any snaps of the device in the flesh as yet, but Microsoft did provide the above render to keep you going until closer to its winter release date.

Of course, this is far from the first time Porsche has helped with design for a piece of consumer tech. But the less said about the Porsche BlackBerry range, the better.
