Offers a credible challenger to the VX Nano.
We’ve seen some rather terrible attempts at creating the perfect laptop mouse and for my money the Logitech VX Nano still has the edge, unless you want something a little more out of the ordinary…
The Microsoft ‘Arc Mouse’ has appeared relatively out of the blue and offers a unique foldable design (at least I haven’t seen one before) which the Redmond giant claims will make it both comfortable in use and portable on the move.
As you can see, it all centres around a chunky off-centre hinge and despite the rather strange tunnel effect this results in during use it still offers the staple left/right click, scroll and programmable thumb buttons. Connectivity is via Bluetooth with a tiny Bluetooth USB dongle which Microsoft says can remain attached to a laptop even in transit.
So does it come together? I don’t have a clue but from the shots the biggest challenges are clearly durability and stability and it’s likely to be a love it/hate it device.
Still, if you are tempted by this fine example of lateral thinking then it will be available in both red and white finish with a release schedule timed for Q4. A significant $59.95 RRP has also been put on the head of the Arc Mouse so it’s a decision worth mulling over between now and then.
Weird? Yes. Different? Sure. Revolutionary? We’ll see…
