Memory Key Fits Linux Computer

French based start-up Calao claims it has produced a Linux computer that fits into a Memory key form factor! Called the ‘USB-9260’, and measuring just 85 x 36mm the remarkable device features an Atmel AT91SAM9260 SoC (system on chip) powered by a 190MHz ARM926EJ-S core and comes with 64MB SDRAM and 256MB NAND flash onboard.

A 10/100 Ethernet port and a pair of USB ports have been fitted onto it too but reports that while the device also sports a 50-pin expansion interface the company has not published the pinout, nor announced any specific daughterboards. It also says things I understand to report that the USB-9260 can be debugged over USB via JTAG and DBGU (debug unit). Alternatively an SBC35-A9260 development board (below) is available to offer a variety of I/O, expansion and debugging interfaces.

As for the software side of things, an open source U-Boot bootloader and Linux 2.6 series kernels will be installed with GNU toolchains also available. Calao will target point of sale terminals, Ethernet-based IP cameras, bar code readers and possibly Spode with the USB-9260 and claims that it will be available soon for an as yet undisclosed RRP.
