Melomind: the headset that will help you relax

Modern life is pretty hectic. We could all do with finding time to relax a bit more. Melomind is here to help us.
It’s a headset that promises to help you destress. It uses electroencephalographic (EEG) technology to train your brain to deal with stress better. This involves neurofeedback, which is a constant information loop running between the EEG sensors and app’s training programme. It creates an audio soundscape that reacts to your brainwaves in real-time.
In other words, the more hectic your brainwaves – i.e. the more stressed the you are – the more chaotic the soundscape. By calming your mind, and in turn relaxing, you’ll modulate the music.
It’s claimed that daily use will make you more efficient at relaxing, leading to you becoming less stressed overall.

The app tracks your progress over time, and will even coach you along when you need a kick up the backside. Plus it gives you personalised advice based on your history.
It’s surpassed its funding goal of €50,000 and still has 43 days to go. The last early bird lets you buy one for €220 (£171), though there aren’t many left. Normally it will retail for $399 (£274). It will ship in October.
