Meld keeps an eye on your cooking so you don’t have to
Wouldn’t it be great to have someone looking over your shoulder while you cook, making sure you don’t burn anything? Meet Meld.
It’s an automated cooking system that makes sure you don’t undercook or burn your food.
It consists of three elements. The Meld Knob replaces the knob on your gas or electric cooker. It automatically turns the heat up or down so it stays at the optimum temperature. How does it know what temperature it’s at? It receives data from the Meld Clip, which attaches to your pots and pans and measures the temperature of what’s cooking.
The final part is the app. It contains hundreds of recipes, complete with specs like temperature. Click the ‘Make It’ button, and
Of course you can add your own recipes and control the Knob manually, if you prefer. You can also use the app to set it to a specific temperature (200 degrees Fahrenheit, say), or a certain way of cooking (simmering, for example).

At the bottom of the page, you can see it in action poaching eggs.
It’s sailed past its $50,000 funding goal and still has 25 days to go. Pledge $129 (£88) and you can get the Knob and Clip (plus the app is a free download for iOS and Android). It should ship in October.
