Meater is a smart thermometer for cooking meat

Is that burger done? Get Meater and you’ll know for sure.

It’s a wireless thermometer that syncs with your phone. Using the app, you can cook the perfect steak, chicken, turkey, fish and lots more.

One neat feature is that it’ll ping a notification to your smartphone when your meat has reached the perfect temperature inside. That means you can entertain friends and family without constantly checking how your food is cooking. Just remember to keep an eye on your phone.

There’s also an optional accessory called the Meater Block. This extends your Wi-Fi range, and provides a screen to see the temperature of your meat without looking at your phone. It also holds four Meater thermometers.

The app estimates how long each piece of food will take to cook, so you can plan accordingly. It even estimates the resting temperature of your food, and tell you when to take it off the grill or out of the oven. That way, the internal heat will rise to the target temperature while resting and you’ll cook your meat to perfection.

It’s powered by a rechargeable battery. A full charge gives you 48 hours of continuous cooking. That’s a lot of steaks.

It’s a great idea, and could eliminate the guesswork from barbecues and dinner parties. It’s exceeded its $100,000 goal and will ship in January. It can be yours for $59 (£39).
