Like a OneTouch back up solution, only - wait for it - smaller!
Storage is sexy, I’ve tried telling myself this a thousand times but it just isn’t true. If it were though, this device would be the Carolina Ardohain of the hard disk back-up market and if I ever meet the foxy Argie herself that’s exactly the pick-up line I’ll use on her. How could she resist?
Anyway, brushing visions of this impending conquest from my mind, let’s get back to Maxtor’s stylish midget. It’s called the ‘OneTouch III Mini Edition’ which is handy because such descriptive naming saves me writing a general outline. Instead I’ll get straight down to brass tacks.
The miniature backup solution comes in 60GB or 100GB capacities, will fit inside a jacket pocket and at just 198g weighs little more than a slim line digital camera. With a portable life ahead of it the Mini has been toughened up with thick outer casing and anti-shock drive protection while inbuilt software encryption locks away sensitive data should it be stolen or – given its teeniness – simply lost down the back of the couch.
Like existing OneTouch drives it also employs Maxtor Sync software to automatically synchronise the files between two or more computers and even roll back a system’s OS or applications if problems arise. RRPs of £85 and £115 have been set for the two models respectively and they’re available immediately.
All of which means I just need to pick one up, grab my plane ticket to Buenos Aires, dispatch of the foxy Mrs Ardohain’s troublesome husband and deliver my knock out pickup line. It’s a master plan…
