Marvel announces Telltale Games team-up for 2017

Marvel has announced that it is teaming up with developer Telltale to create a new “game series project” for release in 2017.
You doubtless know what Marvel is – the comic book giant behind The Avengers, Spider-Man, The X-Men, and Daredevil – but it’s Telltale’s involvement with these Marvel properties that’s of real interest here.
Telltale Games has produced a number of popular interactive story games based on prominent film, TV, and comic book properties. These have included games based on Back to the Future, The Walking Dead, Jurassic Park, Game of Thrones, and The Wolf Among Us, among others.
The common factor to all of these games is a focus on story and character development, with players invariably given the power to affect the course of the narrative by making major decisions at key points.
With the vast majority of Marvel-based games to date being more ‘Hulk smash’ then ‘Hank Pym ponder,’ this could be an interesting direction for Marvel to take.
Telltale’s history combined with Marvel’s phrase “game series project” suggests that this could take the form of a single game broken into multiple episodes, rather like a DVD box set.

There’s no extra information on the precise nature of the game(s), however, nor do we know which Marvel characters Telltale will be allowed to get its narrative mitts on.
With a good two years until release, we’re right at the start of the project here, but we’ll keep you apprised of any new developments.
