Showing Sony how backwards compatibility is done?
For those of us who remember playing the original Paper Mario, today’s announcement from Nintendo will bring much joy. For a mere 1000 Wii Points (about £7.50 in real money) you can get your hands on arguably the most innovative Mario game since the original.
While some people may argue that £7.50 is quite a lot for a game first launched back in 2001 on the N64, I would suggest that they clearly have not played what is, in my opinion at least, the finest Mario game ever made (surely Mario 64 is the greatest? – ed.). Not to mention that you will enjoy playing Super Paper Mario (the newly made sequel) far more for having also experienced the original.
Also winging its way onto download is the 1992 Turbographx (you mean PC Engine Hugo, we’re not American you know – ed.) based hit Air “Zonk” a side-scrolling shoot ‘em’ up which is (was?) widely regarded as an excellent game when released. Priced at 600 Wii Points (about £4.50) Air “Zonk” will be joining a line-up of over 100 over titles available on the Wii’s Virtual Console to date. Hopefully this is a sign of more good things to come.
