Man City vs Liverpool match preview
There’s not a lot to play for tonight, despite the prestige of the fixture. However, as always, there’s plenty of pride at steak in this top of the table clash. Liverpool have already been crowned champions and many will question their motivation with the title already decided.
City’s aim, for the remainder of the season, would be to secure European football. However, a financial breach of Uefa regulations has left the club banned from European competition for two years. City have lodged an appeal and it remains to be seen whether the ban will be upheld. Either way, it does cast a little bit of shade on the rest of their season and piles huge amounts of pressure onto the rest of their Champions League campaign.
This evening, Man City will be without key men, Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero, with Eric Garcia also potentially sitting this one out due to a head injury he sustained against Arsenal.
Liverpool are likely to be without Joel Matip and James Milner, though Milner has now returned to training.
Aside from that, neither club is expected to field a weakened team, despite their commitments in other competitions. It will be intriguing for fans to see which of the Premier League’s top two clubs comes out with the three points. It’s well worth tuning in on Sky Sports to find out.
