Valve soothes the heartache for those of us without Valentines this weekend.
Nothing says “cure for romantic rejection” like killing Nazis controlled by other people also suffering from romantic rejection. Praise be to Valve then for its understanding of the human condition.
In a heartfelt gesture to all those men and women (mostly men) whom it secretly knows are single because of its games, this Valentine’s weekend Valve has decided to give away Day of Defeat: Source to keep your otherwise redundant fingers wiggling. On the company’s website read the following statement:
This weekend Valve is inviting everyone to try Day of Defeat: Source for free via Steam. Visit Steampowered.com to pre-load the game and be set to play at 12:00 pm (noon) PST on Friday, when the Free Weekend begins. Join the ranks as Axis or Allies troops located in Western Europe during the height of the war in 1944.
This free period ends at the witching hour on Sunday, by which time your bloodlust will be so satisfied from the endless slaughter of troops representing one dubiously moustachioed crackpot’s misplaced attempts at global domination that you’ll forget all about your love-less empty existence.
After all, that’s what computer games are for, right?
