The best new Windows 10 feature won’t arrive in 2018
Microsoft has confirmed the intriguing ‘Sets’ feature will not arrive in Windows 10 this year and has removed it from test builds.
Announced at the Build 2018 conference, Sets will enable Windows 10 users to place multiple applications in a web browser-like tabbed interface.
The feature is one of the most exciting Windows 10 features announced this year and could completely change the way some users interact with the desktop operating system.
Sets has been in testing among Windows Insiders, but the firm isn’t ready to unleash Sets upon consumers quite yet having removed it from those Insider builds or the time being.
While Microsoft didn’t openly state this, we’d hoped it would roll this autumn within the Redstone 5 update (Fall Creators Update), but Microsoft is now saying the feature will come when it’s ready.

On Wednesday, the company said (via Windows Central):
“Thank you for your continued support of testing Sets. We continue to receive valuable feedback from you as we develop this feature helping to ensure we deliver the best possible experience once it’s ready for release.
Starting with this build, we’re taking Sets offline to continue making it great. Based on your feedback, some of the things we’re focusing on include improvements to the visual design and continuing to better integrate Office and Microsoft Edge into Sets to enhance workflow.
“If you have been testing Sets, you will no longer see it as of today’s build, however, Sets will return in a future WIP flight. Thanks again for your feedback.”
It’s not clear when Windows 10 Sets will return to Insider builds, but we’re unlikely to see a roll out to everyone until next April’s big update at the earliest.
