Lumia 850 render leak shows mid-range Windows 10 phone
Renders of a new mid-range Windows 10 smartphone from Microsoft have leaked onto the web.
Microsoft launched its flagship Windows 10 smartphones, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL back in October. It also announced the Lumia 550 as an entry-level alternative.
All of which left a gaping hole for a mid-range champ to come along and offer decent portable Windows 10 performance at a reasonable price. That device may just have leaked.
The above image was posted in China over the weekend, and was then reported by Nokiapoweruser. It appears to show official-looking renders of a new Microsoft-branded smartphone in both black and white.
Judging from the ’08:50′ time on the display, this would appear to be the Lumia 850. Intriguingly, the date reads December 12, which has been and gone. Was this a placeholder, or has the Lumia 850 missed its intended launch date?
Other rumours surrounding the Lumia 850 suggest that it’s going to be a big phone, possibly with a 5.7-inch 1080p display. We could actually be looking at a Lumia 850 XL, then.

Continuing the mid-range theme, it’s claimed that the Lumia 850 will be powered by a Snapdragon 617 CPU.
Interestingly, the render also seems to show a front-facing iris scanner, which could suggest that the Lumia 850 will support Microsoft’s Windows Hello facial authentication system.
We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
