LoveFilm adds original pilot TV episodes from Amazon Studios

LoveFilm has announced it will be adding 11 original TV series test pilots produced by Amazon Studios, the production arm of parent company Amazon, to its streaming services.

The pilots will be launched as part of a screen testing period from Amazon Studios, which is giving UK and German LoveFilm customers free access to the previously unseen children’s and entertainment content. Viewer response to the 11 pilots will help guide Amazon’s decision as to which series to take through to full production.

“To be able to host oringial pilot content, developed by Amazon Studios, and offer our members the opportunity to directly influence which of those series go into production is a major, and really exciting, development,” commented Jim Buckle, Managing Director at LoveFilm.

Amazon Studios announced its first pilot productions in December, launching six entertainment series pilots. The addition of five children’s TV pilots brings the total number of in-production titles by Amazon Studios to 11. All of these pilots are to be made available to LoveFilm subscribers.

“Production is already underway for the first set of comedy pilots we announced in December, and now we are excited to add even more pilots to the list – five amazing preschool children’s series. Our children’s series come from industry luminaries with credits such as Blue’s Clues, Rugrats and Dino Dan,” said Roy Price, Director of Amazon Studios.

“We think parents – and our very youngest customers – are going to love the magical combination of entertainment and learning that they’ll discover in these children’s series.”

Streaming specialist LoveFilm has made quite a few new content announcements in the past month, including TV series partnerships with NBCUniversal, Channel 4 and Marvel. As the UK’s biggest streaming service it already has BBC, ITV and ABC content within its vast library.

LoveFilm is available on PC and Mac platforms, as well as providing its LoveFilm ‘Instant’ service to an increasing assortment of devices, including Smart TVs, smartphones such as the Google Nexus 7, and games consoles such as the recently launched Nintendo Wii U.
