Whatever you say about Logitech, you can’t call them with boring. The company has just unveiled a cuboid mouse as well as the world’s first Full HD webcam.
Let’s tackle the Logitech Cube first. The Bluetooth mouse has been “re-imagined” by Logitech and rather than using the conventional curved design of 99 per cent of the mice out there, the company has gone for an angular cuboid shape which at first looks nothing like a mouse.
The mouse relies on touch technology and Logitech’s Flow Scroll software to allow you to smoothly navigate you desktop or browser with a swipe of your finger. It comes with a tiny unifying receiver with Logitech Advanced 2.4GHz connectivity to allow you use the mouse up to 25m away from your computer. It can also pair with up to six devices.
If you move the mouse off the table it switches to “presenter mode” allowing you to flick between slides during a presentation by clicking the top of the mouse. Turn it over, click again and you’ll go to the previous slide.
The Logitech Cube expected to be available in Europe beginning in January 2012. It will be available at www.logitech.com for a suggested retail price of £59.99.
Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920
Logitech has announced the world’s first 1080p webcam allowing you to record in glorious Full HD. You will also be able to talk to family and friends around the globe in Full HD, but only if you are using the latest version of Skype (version 5.7 Beta for Windows) with the quality dropping to 720p for Windows Live Messenger.
The webcam uses advanced H.264 compression technology to allow you upload your clips quickly to Facebook, Twitter or YouTube.
The webcam features Carl Zeiss optics, uses a 20-step autofocus system and will let you capture 15 megapixels still images. On either side of the new webcam are microphones for capturing stereo sound and Logitech’s Fluid Crystal Technology promises smoother video motion, sharper pictures and richer colours.
The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 is expected to be available in Europe beginning in January 2012 for a suggested retail price of £89.99.
