Add a Cordless Desktop Wave keyboard and a MX 1100 Coredless Laser Mouse together and what do you get?
August seems to be product refresh time for Logitech. Following on from the diNovo Edge ‘Mac Edition’ seeing its launch, the year-old Wave keyboard has also seen an update, of sorts, becoming the Cordless Desktop Wave Pro – the Pro part being the addition to the mix of the MX 1100 Cordless Laser Mouse.
The Wave is still the same model as ever, without even superficial changes, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In theory it’s still one of the best compromises between a fully ergonomic and a ‘normal’ keyboard – and of course there’s no learning curve as is generally found with split-key designs.
Oddly two slightly different version of the MX 1100 mouse are available. Included with the Wave, it comes complete with a USB plug from which it can apparently pull a day’s worth of charge in just 15 minutes, or six weeks after seven hours. Better yet, the mouse can be used while this charging takes place. Sold by itself, however, the MX 1100 uses AA batteries.
In terms of functionality, the MX 1100 packs a 1,600dpi sensitivity, which is adjustable, eight programmable buttons and Logitech’s MicroGear scrollwheel – HyperScrolling and all. UK pricing for the Logitech Wave Cordless Desktop Pro is £89.99 and the MX 1100 is £54.99 by itself. Given the Wave is a £50 by itself that seems reasonable enough.
