I realise I'm highly desirable but this is just making me feel uncomfortable...
LG has launched probably the most inappropriately branded electronics product since the Nintendo Wii, but the world loved that…
Chances are that the world will show a reasonable amount of love to the ‘MFFM37’ too, the official codename behind its new range of ‘Touch me’ touchscreen display MP3 players.
Despite its metallic finish, it is clear that LG line has been inspired by the company’s highly desirable Prada phone and measuring just 51.5mm wide, 90mm long and 9.9mm thick it is just as pocket friendly. At 2.4 inches the QVGA display isn’t a match for the Prada’s 320 x 480 three incher but it does illustrate that where once phones used to imitate MP3 players now the opposite is true.
As with most players these days audio (courtesy of a MP3, WMA, OGG and ASF) isn’t the only thing on the menu with Mpeg4 video supported and battery life provides a respectable 20 hours and three hours respectively in the two modes. Added bonuses include a Jpeg picture viewer, support for TXT files and an onboard graphics equaliser.
As with the Prada phone there is a pleasingly minimal time-to-market delay and they should appear in June. 4GB and 2GB models will initially be released and though pricing isn’t finalised I was told £159 and £129 are the current guidelines. Of course this makes the MFFM37 series a lot more expensive than the competition (a 4GB iPod nano goes for £129 and a 4GB Sansa e260 a bargain £89.99) but can we really put a number on unbridled fondling…?
(Perhaps just a jail sentence…)
